Matthew 3:11
The apostle Matthew writing (God speaking via scripture...The Word),  being a direct quote of John the Baptist, and the people gathered...about how He, John, baptizes with water for repentance, but Jesus will baptize with the Holy Spirit & with fire.

Wycliffe Bible of 1384:

King James Bible of 1611: ¹¹I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

NAS Bible of 1960:¹¹   "As for me, I baptize you with ^{[or in or by]} water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

NIV Bible 1973-78:¹¹"I baptize you with ^{[or in or by]} water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
