The Truth... What is it?

A Lindler Family of South Carolina

Jacob Lindler arrived in about 1752 in Charleston, S. C., on the ship Elizabeth, Captain Ross in command. The ship sailed from Rotterdam, Holland; but we think the Lindlers are German. His land grant was on waters of the Broad River in what is now Fairfield County, S. C.

The authoritative book on this South Carolina branch of the family is: "The Lindler Family History, Germany to South Carolina 1730-1990", Dutch Fork Chapter, SCGS, Inc., P. O. Box 481, Chapin, S. C. 29036, 1990.

There is an annual Lindler reunion at St. Thomas Lutheran Church at Lake Murray, near Chapin, S. C., at noon 3rd Sunday in September.

There is an annual "Lindler Cousins Reunion" [from the children of L. C. and Bell Amick Lindler] at noon of the 3rd Sunday in April at Lake Murray Community Center off of hwy.# 378, west of Lexington, S. C. L. C.'s Find a Grave memorial...HERE...has links back to the immigrant. And, there is a Face Book page for L. C.'s father, John Calvin Lindler. And, there is the annual reunion of the descendants of John Calvin and Mary Emma Wessinger Lindler family held on about the third Sunday of September each year under the shelter at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Chapin at 1pm. In past years, it had functioned as a Lindler/Wessinger reunion.
